Ideas for Final Project

For my final project I am thinking of focusing my central idea around the modern problem of global warming. Global warming presents an incredibly drastic future for the world if people today do not change their actions. For my final project I have several ideas to convey the severity of this issue to my audience. I am thinking I could do something with stop-go animation creating a storyline and showing the effects of global warming using this effect. On a different note I could also write a parody dealing with global warming. I would write a somewhat funny script dealing with the issue of global warming and then at the end of the film, close with a depressing take on the future if we don't change. Additionally, I'm thinking about animating drawings I could create to create a storyline centralizing around this particular issue.

March 3rd

This class I learned how to contruct a contact microphone. Before this class I was not aware of what a compound microphone was exactly. A compound microphone is a microphone that picks up sounds upon contact with the mic. We made the microphones by stripping wires, bending them together, and then sodering a bond between them. I found this entire process interesting and I hope to record sounds with this newly developed mic.

To You

To You from Christina Riggio on Vimeo.

Today in class I learned how to circuit bend. I found this process very difficult because both of my toys happened to short circuit. I also learned how to connect wires together by using a soddering iron. This process was really interesting because if you did it correctly you could make your toy sound completely different.

Wednesday February 10th

After Wednesday's class, I learned what net neutrality was by looking at a video from the Tonight Show. I thought it was interesting to watch the sound splicing to edit a senator's speech regarding his view of the internet. I also learned how to add text to video and export/upload a video onto video.

Class Response 2

This class was interesting because I learned about several new websites. I learned about the stumble upon website which I am most likely going to use in the future a lot. This website stores my interests and locates websites that appeal to my interests. Also, Mr. Gokey discussed who the Situationalists were and their impact on the art world.

Christina's Life Flow Chart

First Class Response

I learned how to use the website Lovely Charts and create intricate flow charts.

I learned about the relationship between fate and chance and how one can use a flowchart to create a story where the viewer can choose the path the character in the story chooses to take.

I thought the film trailers relating to this idea of chance and fate Mr. Gokey showed us seemed interesting and maybe worth seeing.

I found the Flash Choose-Your-Own path game interesting because the paths the character could take were all random but also interesting. I liked how this game allowed the viewer to interact with the game and choose the fate of the character in the game.
